Biography
Paula is a Talent Business Partner and qualified Career Coach, with 20 years’ experience in Talent Acquisition with major multi-national corporates in finance, technology, professional services and consulting sectors. She is known for her global and intuitive mindset, empathetic nature, passion for equality and an energetic, inspiring and empowering style. Paula is British-Canadian, and has lived and worked in the UK, Canada, Bermuda, Russia, Hong Kong, France and Spain.
As a true business partner, drawing on extensive people insights and cross-cultural agility, Paula informs decision-making across all talent-related fields. She influences with an independent, adaptable and global viewpoint, delivering people solutions to business networks and corporations.
Paula’s HR career began in London following completion of undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Ottawa in Canada. She progressed as a recruiter and behavioural assessor, delivering graduate assessment days for major national employers across. She later specialised in HR recruitment, for Macmillan Davies Hodes, part of the Omnicom Group. After nearly 10 years on the agency side, Paula moved in-house, first leading talent acquisition and generalist HR first for Dell Financial Services, followed by Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. She steadily progressed as a Talent Acquisition leader, culminating in her joining Deloitte in Toronto in 2005.
Paula relocated back to the UK with Deloitte in 2006, joining the Consulting division and leading Experienced Hire recruitment. She joined Deloitte Global Talent in 2008, leading in-house Executive Hiring for Russia/CIS operations followed by a permanent transfer to Hong Kong, where she built Asia-Pacific’s first in-house Executive Hiring capability, saving the region £1M in head-hunting fees and building a team to successfully hire 40 Executives per year. In 2013, she relocated back to London and joined Bombardier and Chubb Insurance as Head of Talent Acquisition EMEA.
In 2016, Paula took a career break to pursue a Master’s degree in Human Rights at the University of Sussex. In 2018, following her thesis submission, she relocated to Spain.
Paula joined Hanover in London as an Associate in 2020, as an Executive Career Coach and CV writer, supporting a broad range of clients on successful career transformation. In 2022, she established her own career coaching practice, The Maple Leaf Coach. That same year she joined Purple Chilli Recruitment Services in Gibraltar as a Client Relationship Manager.
Paula is a qualified behavioural interviewer an assessor, with certifications from Novations, SHL, MBTI and Thomas International. She speaks intermediate French and Spanish. She is a member of the CIPD in Gibraltar and a regular key note speaker.
