Job Outline

Our client is looking for a Senior Systems & IT Administrator, who will be responsible for providing highly professional systems management and technical support to the activities of the company, including participating in project and change activities occurring across the business to provide technical analysis.

You will form part of the team overseeing all areas of the company’s systems and information management, with a key focus on the day-to-day management of the organisations’ IT infrastructure, liaising with outsourced solutions providers as necessary. Your involvement will extend to the company’s line of business systems. You will also assist the team in supporting wider business activities by contributing to MI/BI and general data reporting. Owning and delivering projects of a technical or systems data nature within agreed time and budgets.

Main responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational delivery of the company’s IT infrastructure, liaising with outsourced partners to ensure delivery of operational connectivity and functionality SLAs to the business and its clients including:

o Incident management and resolution – root cause analysis of issues, making recommendations for changes to systems and procedures as appropriate

o Monitoring of SLAs – collating and reporting monthly MI

o In-house tech support – front-line user access, application support and issue resolution

o Ensuring adherence to IT security requirements – network and/or users managed in line with agreed guidelines

• Maintenance and testing of the Bank’s technical disaster recovery and business continuity needs in line with agreed plans and strategy:

o Production and adherence to test conditions and schedule

o Creation of test scenarios

o Reporting of test outcomes with recommendations for improvements

• Providing expertise in the storage and management of data; working with colleagues in the development and maintenance of BI tools and query reports to support the wider management and operational teams of the company:

o Production, testing and loading of regulatory reports

o Creation. Production and testing of ad-hoc reports

o Technical maintenance of client data integrity

• Assist in the development and on-going maintenance of the organisations’ logical data model.

• Providing expertise for the local development of tools and utilities as required.

• Support the HO Technology and Information in the day-to-day management of the business’ core banking and associated systems acting as an internal knowledge and liaison point in relation to queries regarding systems, data and processes.

• Providing end user support and the delivery of training as required.

• Deputising for the Head of Technology and Information as required.

• Staying up to-date with technology trends and relevant regulatory changes, especially as they impact IT and banking processes.


• Self-starter, with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively.

• Strong organisational skills, ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

• Focused individual that is personable with excellent attention to detail.

• Logical thinker, able to visualise and predict how complex systems will behave in scenarios.

• Good decision making capabilities with a pragmatic approach.

• Good research skills.

Knowledge and Skills

• High level of knowledge of IT infrastructure considerations for a business, including user management.

• Experience working with outsourced/ SaaS delivery partners.

• Financial Services background and operations experience is essential, including awareness of control and security principles within the business

• Experience maintaining and supporting hardware and software systems, covering server, desktop and network infrastructure.

• Proven problem solving and analytical skills, including the production of documentation and reporting as required.

• Able to express complex ideas to diverse and sometimes non-technical audiences at all levels of an organisation.

• Able to process map and reverse engineer the logical working of systems and procedures

• Able to work with compliance and legal teams, including the review of legislation and guidance notes to identify impacts and establish systems and change requirements.

• Knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles and obligations is essential, with any experience of conducting DPIAs a plus.

• Knowledge and experience working with cloud systems and solutions (including Microsoft 365 suite, SharePoint, Azure, Power Apps (including Power BI), any knowledge of AWS a plus.

• General office suite application abilities to a good level, with any advanced data handling in Excel and/or SQL.

• Appreciation of the value and importance of MI/BI, with any knowledge/experience a plus.


• Bachelor degree in relevant / applicable subject OR demonstrable experience in similar / equivalent roles.

• Prince 2 or other relevant project management certificate desirable.
