Head of Operations

Our Client is seeking a Head of Operations to join their team in their Gibraltar office, working closely with the wider team including Finance, Treasury, Sales, Risk and Compliance departments to ensure lateral collaboration and alignment with operational governance. This will include developing new and enhancing existing policies that will support operational procedures comprising of client operations/payments, outsourcing oversight. There will also be a need to represent the bank on key group projects supporting long-term strategy objectives and day-to-day task management of the bank.

What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in the role

  • Significant experience in an operations / customer service role gained within Financial Services / institution or Banking environment (private equity backed business environment is preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of operational matters in particular payments, cards and outsourcing.
  • Proven track record and experience championing operational aspects of MIFID (desirable but highly advantageous).
  • Previous experience producing and enhancing operational policies, reports and presentation relating to matters of the bank including end-to-end client operations.
  • Understanding of the banking sector specifically around payments, FX products and have experience of overseeing bank reconciliations control framework.
  • Well-grounded in regularly monitoring and reviewing bank operations to ensure these meet required standards and have the foresight to make changes where necessary.
  • Experienced managing key relationships within outsourcing supply chain and working with senior management level individuals and navigation of such relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience taking ownership of data analysis, KPI’s and report structuring for outsourcing oversight.
  • Ability to work in an agile fashion but also with discipline and structure.
  • Proficient at establishing credibility quickly and building relationships at all levels, influencing a range of senior stakeholders and challenging decision making to help drive continuous improvements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written), stay calm and work well under pressure to meet competing deadlines.
  • Solution-focused approach and the ability to make objective/ evidence based decisions and influence recommendations and decisions using insights.
  • Consultative style with the ability to breakdown complex information to suit target audience.
  • Resilient to change, adapting to and supporting new situations with confidence.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with ability to think independently and draw conclusions.
